So, having read all that you probably worked out that the Oxford English Dictionary, (Millennium Academia Version I think), hasn't got a clue what Gutshot really means or indeed what it's all about. Let's face it, compiling a dictionary is kindergarten compared to having to work out whether to lay down pocket aces against an all in from a pre-flop raiser, you were slow playing, that will put you all in when the flop has come down Qh-Kh-Qc. If you know what I mean then Gutshot is the place for you. If you don't, but would like to, then Gutshot is the place for you. Bet you thought the first two paragraphs were confusing!
Gutshot was started by Barry 'the Bully' Martin in October 2000 as a means of providing a forum for players throughout the UK and, as an afterthought, the world, (you know how parochial the English can be). The immediate success of the venture surprised no-one more than the Bully who found he was dedicating more time than was healthy to what was supposed to be a hobby. Derek 'The Wreck' Kelly threw his hat in the ring before it all became profitable or popular and a partnership of contradictions was created. As more people of varying talent became involved there followed a period of sorting the wheat from the chaff before a team par-excellence saw the light of day in a small stable in a town called Bethlehem. Wise men, guided by a bright star, came bearing gifts before departing to tell the world of the saviours of poker.
Alright the last bit isn't quite true, we were just checking if you were still interested. What is true is Gutshot is a poker company owned and administered by poker players for poker players.
There are too many elements of Gutshot to list, (if we did we would be constantly updating this remarkable piece of writing as new bits and pieces are added to the whole Gutshot master megalomaniacal plan at a ridiculous rate of knots). Ask anyone in the no longer twilight world of poker if you want to know about Gutshot and they will tell you what they know, (which may be a lot or a little), and if they feign complete ignorance then they are not poker people or they are that green variety of the savage jealous competitor.
The whole ethos of Gutshot is to provide poker and ancillary services of the highest quality and best value for the benefit of poker players. We are very aware that without poker players we are nothing and have no intention of ever forgetting that.
By the way, in poker parlance, a 'Gutshot' is when one hits the necessary middle card to make a straight. But you knew that anyway didn't you?
